Time Change Instructions

On Sunday morning, November 6 th at 2 a.m. most of North America moved their clocks back an hour to Standard Time. The following instructions guide you through the process of updating the GMT offset for your specific software to reflect this change.

Time Change Instructions for FleetTrack Web

  • NOTE: For FleetTrack Web versions 3.60 and above, no change is necessary in the software itself. FleetTrack Web will detect the time zone settings from the Windows system settings. However, it is imperative that your system settings are properly configured.
    Configure your system in Windows XP
    Configure your system in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
  • Click on the Configure menu on top
  • Click on System Settings
  • Click on System Time (third from the bottom)
  • Whatever your previous setting for GMT offset was, subtract 1 hour (e.g. from -4 to -5)
  • Click OK
  • If your Tracking Units have Data Terminals (MDTs) attached or use any time-dependent function (such as work hours), you must also set the MDT time. Click here for SPM instructions.

Time Change Instructions for FleetTrack Reports

  • Log in to Reports
  • Click on the Configuration tab (1)
  • Find and edit the GMT offset field as per the screenshot (2). Whatever your previous setting was, subtract 1 hour (e.g. from -4 to -5)
  • In order to have your settings take effect, press the Disconnect button (3)
  • The previously grayed-out Connect button (4) will light up. Press it to log back in
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are doing a report for a time period before the time change, e.g. any time in early October, the offset should be put back to its previous setting for those times to show up correctly.

Time Change Instructions for InSight Server

+ View video

  • Click on the Configure menu on top
  • Click on Time Display (third option in second group)
  • The InSight dialog has a setting for East or West which should be set to West. Since we are moving one hour further from GMT, add 1 hour to your previous setting (e.g. from 4 to 5)
  • Click OK

Time Change Instructions for SPMs

+ View video

  • In FleetTrack Pro or FleetTrack Web click on an active (green) track in your tracks list
  • Click the Config Settings button
  • Whatever your previous setting for GMT offset was, subtract 1 hour (e.g. from -4 to -5)
  • Click on Broadcast Settings
  • Highlight all the tracks and click OK
  • If an airtime warning window appears, click Continue
  • The tracks which receive the update will become unhighlighted. Remember that tracks that remain highlighted have not received the update

  • Click on the Configure menu on top
  • Click on Time Display (ninth from the top)
  • Whatever your previous setting for GMT offset was, subtract 1 hour (e.g. from -4 to -5)
  • Click on OK
  • If your Tracking Units have Data Terminals (MDTs) attached or use any time-dependent function (such as work hours), you must also set the MDT time. Click here for SPM instructions.
